Bareilly Zone is set to host its biggest-ever social media influencers meetup — Connect Bareilly Zone 2026 — on May 24, bringing together content creators from all nine districts for a dedicated session with police on digital responsibility, cyber security, misinformation and traffic safety.
The Influencers Community of Bareilly Zone — a self-organised group of more than 100 active social media influencers from all nine districts — had formally approached Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Bareilly Zone Ramit Sharma requesting a dedicated session on the Digital Volunteers programme, digital content laws, cyber security, women empowerment, misinformation, and traffic safety. The meeting, originally scheduled for January 18, 2026, was postponed due to severe cold wave and dense fog.
The Community Behind the Initiative
The Influencers Community of Bareilly Zone is a self-organised group led by President Yash Gupta, Secretary Azhar, Treasurer Harsh and Advisor Siddhant. Its members regularly create and share content on local issues, civic matters and community affairs, and recognise the legal responsibilities that come with their digital reach.
They requested clarity on how the Digital Volunteers programme works and an opportunity for interested members to join it. They also sought a dedicated session on the legal responsibilities that come with creating and sharing digital content.
The community set out four specific outcomes they hoped the session would achieve: clarity on the legal limits and responsibilities for content creation and distribution; assurance that their content does not hurt the sentiments of any person, class, religion, sect or community; guidance on stopping the rapid spread of misleading or false information; and practical direction on creating content responsibly and safely.
What the Session Will Cover
The session will focus on two broad areas.
Operational Understanding — Explaining how the Digital Volunteers programme works and what it expects from members. Several members of the Influencer Community have already expressed active interest in joining the programme.
Legal & Digital Literacy — Helping influencers understand laws governing digital content (including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), cyber security, misinformation, women empowerment, and traffic safety.
In Their Own Words
Speaking to NDD, Yash Gupta, President, Influencers Community of Bareilly Zone (@bareillyofficials), said: "Every city has its own unique identity and influencers are the voice of that identity. We are extremely excited about the May 24 meeting with Bareilly Zone police. This interaction with police and ADG Ramit Sharma will further strengthen our unity and help us become more responsible and impactful content creators for society. We are thankful to him for giving us this valuable platform."
Azhar, Secretary, Influencers Community of Bareilly Zone (@pyarabareilly), said: "The January meeting could not happen but the enthusiasm within our community never dipped. We have been preparing for this and our members are eager to engage directly with the police on questions that affect their daily work as creators. We see this as the beginning of a long-term partnership, not a one-time event."
Speaking to NDD, ADG Ramit Sharma said: "The proactive approach shown by the Influencers Community of Bareilly Zone is truly commendable. In the digital landscape, influencers command significant trust and reach, especially among the youth. This interaction builds upon the strong foundation of the Digital Volunteers initiative, which has served as a bridge between law enforcement and digital creators since 2015. It is an opportunity for mutual learning — for law enforcement to better understand the digital ecosystem and for creators to engage directly with issues like cyber security, misinformation, women empowerment and traffic safety. We see this as the continuation of a sustained partnership where both sides work together to strengthen public awareness and responsible digital citizenship."
Influencers from all nine districts of Bareilly Zone — Bareilly, Badaun, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Moradabad, Rampur, Amroha, Sambhal and Bijnor — are expected to attend.
Participation will be confirmed after registration.
